Circa 1800 (or perhaps earlier) hand made tobacco box or coffin.  Hinged lid.  Decorative tooling, brass convex top and bottom and applied brass trim of hearts and stylized squares.  Uncertain what metal is used to form the darker sidewalls.  Tiny link of now missing chain is attached to one end.  Inside the box is an applied iron post which I suspect was used to clean tobacco out of a pipe bowl.  When visible, rivets are hand peened.  Approximate dimensions are 2-7/8″ long X 2-1/8″ wide X 1-1/2″ deep.  Condition: minor pitting, occasional scuffs and dings, few tiny dents.  previously mention missing chain.  Please see photos for additional condition review.  Questions welcome!
